Imagine a world in which parents were afforded free babysitting to claim back some connection or Zen?

In New York City, Mayor Zohran Mamdani isn’t dreaming, he’s doing. A rollout of NYC’s Parks’ first-ever Parents’ Night Out offers a free, one-night drop off program that gives parents and caregivers the opportunity to enjoy an evening to recharge. Here’s my take on why this should be a lesson for Australia.

In our own backyard, the vision is a little more limited. While the gender quota debate has been revived by the Libs, it’s hard to imagine how they can rebuild. But it’s not like the ALP or One Nation are giving us great alternatives. Madeline Hislop explores the current political landscape and recent shifts for female voters in who they’re likely to get behind.

Meanwhile, Anthony Albanese has unveiled Australia's new AI strategy, promising faster approvals for data centres, stronger copyright protections and a new Office of AI — arguing the technology can create jobs rather than replace them. But as Angela Priestley notes, the government's optimistic vision leaves some of the biggest questions unanswered.

In health, and two in five women who experience birth trauma will also develop PTSD, according to new research.

And finally, we’ve just launched our latest report with CommBank Women in Focus looking at the state of play for women in small business and SMBs in NSW. Our findings show that investing in the women driving recovery, resilience and local businesses across the state is one of the smartest investments we can make in our communities. (Partner Content)
