Trigger warning: today’s edition discusses details of the allegations surrounding Sam Wood. If you or someone you know is experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, domestic, family or sexual violence, call 1800RESPECT on 1800 737 732, text 0458 737 732 or visit 1800RESPECT.org.au for online chat and video call services.
The details of the allegations against Sam Wood have emerged, and they are deeply disturbing.
His wife, Snezana Wood, was allegedly the victim. Emergency services were reportedly called by Snezana’s daughter, who witnessed her stepfather allegedly assaulting her mother, pushing her, strangling her and slamming her head against the floor.
Wood has been refused bail.
Today, Rita Nasr looks at the media’s tendency--even with all we know--to focus on the fallout for Wood and his business empire rather than his alleged victims.
Can we please start having the right conversation?
